Chris Hopkins Artist Biography

Chris Hopkins is celebrating with us our 20th year of art conferences.  Chris was in essence our founding artist - the first presenter in 2006 at our first conference.  And helped to launch our first traveling exhibit, Let There Be Light with the participate of more than a dozen of his colleagues.  He is one of the most astounding artists of our generation - a force of artistic genius- both with moving and touching works about great stories in culture, and a body of Biblically themed art as well.

He is an award-winning artist with a career spanning over three decades, covering film, entertainment, sports, publishing, and corporate illustration. He graduated with honors from the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA, and later returned as an instructor. His work has been featured in high-profile projects, including theme art for three Super Bowls and marquee artwork for Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. As a civilian artist for the U.S. Air Force, Hopkins documented humanitarian missions and served as a combat artist in Afghanistan, with his works housed in the Pentagon’s permanent collection. In 2025, he was commissioned to paint the Secretary of the Air Force for the National Gallery. Beyond his commercial success, Hopkins has created narrative series dedicated to the Northwest Coast First Nations People and the Tuskegee Airmen, exhibited across the U.S. and Canada. His work exploring Japanese American incarceration during WWII reflects his personal family history. Recognized by the Norman Rockwell Museum, he won Best of Show in 2018 and contributed to a special exhibition in 2022. Hopkins has collaborated with Indigenous artists worldwide, including Māori artist Lyonel Grant and Canadian First Nations artist Brenda Crabtree. His accolades include gold and silver medals from SILA and a Life Achievement Award from Air Brush Action Magazine. Valuing collaboration, he continues to work alongside like-minded artists to produce impactful and heartfelt works.
